Making a Bequest to The Chest

By including The Whitehorse Community Chest in your will you are helping to provide an ongoing, long-term financial foundation for the Chest to achieve our mission of supporting the disadvantaged of Whitehorse.  Every bequest, large or small, makes a difference.

Leaving a bequest to The Chest is easy, but it is important to consult with your lawyer and ask for appropriate clauses to be inserted into your will and/or memorandum of wishes. We have set out below some sample clauses used previously, which may be useful to you and your lawyer.  To receive a bequest brochure with further information please contact our office on 9285 4890.

“I give and bequeath the amount of $_________to Whitehorse Community Chest , located at (Box Hill Town Hall, Suite 10/27 Banks Street, Box Hill Vic 3128”

Percentage Bequest:

“I give and bequeath ________% of the total value of my estate to Whitehorse Community Chest located at Suite 10/27 Banks Street, Box Hill Vic 3128.”

Bequest of a Residue:

“The residue and remainder of my estate, both real and personal, wherever situated, I give and bequeath to, Whitehorse Community Chest, located at (Box Hill Town Hall, Suite 10/27 Banks Street, Box Hill Vic 3128 , to be used as the Board of Trustees directs.”

Designated Bequest:

“I give and bequeath to Whitehorse Community Chest, located at (Box Hill Town Hall, Suite 10/27 Banks Street, Box Hill Vic 3128 the sum of $_________ to be used for the ___________ (specific program, project, etc.).”

If you decide to use the last clause, it would be prudent to also add a contingency clause saying, “Should this program no longer be needed, the bequest may be used as the Board of Trustees determines.”

Please note that the above clauses are samples only and you should obtain your own legal advice on these matters. Every-one’s circumstances are different and your estate planning needs to be tailored accordingly.

If you do decide to include us in your will, please let us know so that we can formally recognise your generosity.
